Introduction to Street Photography with Matt Stuart.

Begin your street photography journey with internationally renowned photographer Matt Stuart. In this hands-on two-day workshop, Matt will guide participants through the fundamentals of observation, timing, and building confidence in the streets—sharing his unique approach to finding meaning in the everyday.

Workshop Overview

Day 1 – Central Lisbon (Chiado, Cais do Sodré, Rossio). The workshop begins at the Faculdade de Belas-Artes with an introduction to Matt’s work and photographic approach. After lunch, you'll head into the beating heart of Lisbon to photograph in iconic central neighbourhoods. Matt will be there to offer insight, guidance, and on-the-spot advice as you begin to apply what you've learned in real-world settings.

Day 2 – Alfama & Mouraria. Sunday morning takes you into the narrow, winding streets of Alfama and Mouraria—Lisbon’s oldest and most characterful quarters. With Matt’s guidance, you’ll navigate their layered textures and rhythms to capture compelling street scenes. In the afternoon, the group returns to the faculty for an editing and image review session, offering feedback and reflection on the weekend’s work.

13:30 – 14:30 · Continued shooting or short break. 

15:00 – 17:00 · Editing session & image review

What You’ll Need

• A digital camera of your choice (all brands welcome)
• A laptop or tablet for editing on Sunday. 
• Comfortable Shoes – be prepared for Lisbon’s steep hills and cobbled streets!
